3-minute speeches: Don’t vote for war pigs

2 min read
Health care, not warfare: The trillions of dollars the U.S. spends every year on "defense" would be better spent on universal health care.

It’s the 2024 election season, and we’re featuring your three-minute speeches. Here’s Stephen Cole:

Stephen Cole: I’m Stephen Cole, and I have a program on the RBN Long Beach network called Noteworthy, which airs every Thursday at 3 p.m. I know I’ve said a lot about the powers that be and their efforts to divide and conquer us. I know I’ve posited a lot of theories and reasons for the predicaments we find ourselves in.

[00:00:31] However, there is one simple slogan that neatly encapsulates a simple strategy for sending a message to the establishment: ‘Don’t vote for war pigs.’ This means either not voting at all, or voting for a third-party candidate like Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party. Like all political parties, there are deep divisions within the Green Party regarding big issues like our government’s policies surrounding the COVID lockdowns and mandates.

[00:01:06] My opinion, the best thing about the Green Party, is that it provides a viable alternative to the worldwide military agenda of the United States war machine. Another more positive slogan that I’d like to emphasize is: ‘Health care, not warfare.’ The U.S. spends trillions of dollars every year on military ‘defense.’

[00:01:33] These tax dollars would be better spent on U.S. citizens. If we had universal health care, we could solve a lot of problems like:

  1. Better conditions for our bodies, minds, and spirits.
  2. Fewer addictions to drugs and other dangerous habits.
  3. Better health would result in less homelessness because more people would feel better and have more hope regarding friends, family, job prospects, recreational choices, and overall happiness instead of despair.
  4. Increased work opportunities would lead to more disposable income, which would increase our country’s GNP and more money coming into local communities.

[00:02:29] When demands are made for more money for citizens and less for the military, we’re told that it’s complicated, and that terrorists are causing chaos everywhere, and it’s our government’s duty to react and suppress uprisings.

[00:02:46] However, close inspection shows that it’s our government that’s causing worldwide instability with its insatiable appetite for ever-expanding profits for the military-industrial complex.

[00:03:04] John Q: That was Stephen Cole from Noteworthy, on the RBN Long Beach network, with the latest in our series of three-minute speeches. We’d like to invite you to share your thoughts.
