Why Latinos should support Greens, Jill Stein
3 min readby Felipe Lora
We are at a critical point in the future of our communities—not just as Latinos, but as workers and citizens who want real change in the U.S. The Green Party, led by Jill Stein, is the only option that truly aligns with our needs and the interests of all Americans. Latinos’ struggles in this country are part of the larger fight for justice, equity, and peace for everyone.
Economic and social justice for all
One of the main reasons to vote for the Green Party is its focus on economic justice, which would benefit both Latinos and the entire U.S. working class. Through the Green New Deal, the Green Party proposes sustainable, dignified jobs that respect both workers and the environment. Rather than favoring large corporations, this policy prioritizes worker well-being and promotes grassroots economic growth, creating opportunities where now there is exploitation. Isn’t this the vision of a country where everyone can thrive?
Humane and just immigration policy
As Latinos in the U.S., we know well the impact of living under the constant threat of deportation and family separation. The Green Party stands for a humane immigration policy that respects the rights and dignity of all immigrants. Instead of criminalizing migration, Stein advocates for a clear path to citizenship. Voting Green is a vote for a country that values all its people equally, regardless of birthplace. This pro-immigrant stance benefits Latinos and sets a human rights standard that strengthens the whole nation.
Anti-war and pro-community
The Green Party’s anti-war position is another important reason to support it. While other parties spend billions on conflicts abroad, Stein is committed to redirecting these funds to local communities, supporting education, health, and infrastructure that working families need. By reducing the military budget and prioritizing peace, the Green Party pushes for a model that puts the life and well-being of its citizens over corporate interests. This ideal isn’t just for Latinos; it’s for all Americans who want a country that invests in its people rather than perpetuating violence.
A way to resist: the write-in option
In some states, dominant parties have blocked the Green Party from appearing on the ballot. But there’s still a way to show our support and resist: write in Jill Stein’s name. This action shows we won’t be silenced. We support real change, regardless of the barriers imposed on us.
Make your vote count—make history
Now is the time to make our voices heard. Let’s help our family and friends understand why this election is different. Visit your neighbors, organize your community, and make sure everyone knows how to participate. Help those who may have difficulty reaching polling stations, and explain the write-in option to anyone who needs it.
Voting for the Green Party and Jill Stein isn’t just a vote for Latinos—it’s a vote for fairness and dignity for everyone in the U.S. This is the time to unite our struggles, to demand a country guided by justice, peace, and solidarity.
Let’s make history by voting for a Green future for all!
