from the Oregon Green Party
With the first generation of U.S. Greens passing from the scene with a slim record of accomplishment, Oregon Greens are teaming up with Green Renaissance, Green Liberty Caucus, the Center for Truth Politics, and People for Democratic Revolution to set up the next generation for success.
Coalition organizers have scheduled a series of Thursday night discussions to highlight the potential of a united front and to suggest ways the Green Party could be instrumental in a wider movement.
All generally agree on the call for an egalitarian society as the answer to the problem of the plutocratic power elite. They agree on the proposition to remove the rich from power so we can have real and not fake democracy, and thereby advance a society that serves the people and the planet.
Participants will elaborate on this proposition and highlight key themes that could elevate the Green Movement as a champion for a better society. Participants acknowledge that the plutocratic predator class use a divide-and-conquer strategy to control the public and keep the people from uniting into a freedom coalition. To overcome this, Greens need to lead on egalitarian principles and a demand for accountability and justice.
The discussion series includes the following scheduled Zoom meetings, starting at 5:30 p.m. on Zoom:
Thursday, June 26: Emanuel Pastreich, director of the Center for Truth Politics, will discuss how creating a new political culture would be a winning formula for Greens. He calls for a politics that is founded on scientific and moral truth, that rejects unconditionally the politics of indulgence, falsehood, narcissism, defining elements of plutocracy. If Greens followed this course, the public would notice.
Thursday, July 3: Mark Rolofson from Oregon Greens will argue Greens should advance a strong anti-militarist, anti-imperialist message and demand justice for the Israeli genocide in Gaza. He will reflect on the problem of ‘forever wars’ that followed the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and discuss how the Green Party can grow its ranks by appealing to the popular desire for peace, and a demand for justice for warmongers.
Thursday, July 10: Chuck Fall, Green Liberty Caucus, will argue the Green Party can grow its ranks by calling out state crimes and denouncing the corruption of state agencies.
Thursday, July 17: John Spritzer, radical egalitarian, will argue Greens could win if they led with the proposition that we remove the rich from power, so we can have real and not fake democracy. He argues a majority of people recognize that the plutocracy is an impediment to a fair society. If Greens adopted an anti-plutocracy, pro-democracy stance, the Greens could grow their ranks and lead a winning coalition.
The series started with a presentation on monetary reform by Howard Switzer from the Green Party U.S. (GPUS) Banking and Monetary Reform Committee.
