Reporting April 17 for the Daily Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois, Sophie Baker and Isaac Speyer follow the debate over Envision Evanston 2045, the new comprehensive plan that would eliminate single-family zoning restrictions.
They write: “The meeting ended with a lengthy debate over the value of the chapter on community input. While some proposed to completely cut the chapter, others thought it was important to represent the divided feedback the document received.”
Land Use Commissioner Loren Berlin said, “I think as a historical document, it’s really important we capture the fact that people are very deeply conflicted.”
In Wildcats sports: Despite losing to the Ducks, the men’s tennis team earned a first-round match April 24 in the Big Ten tournament. #10 seed Northwestern faces #7 Michigan, after #9 seed Oregon battles #8 Illinois.
