Saturday, August 2, protesters will gather at noon outside of Whole Foods Market parking lot and surrounding areas while calling on Eugene and Springfield residents to participate in an indefinite boycott of Bezos-owned companies Whole Foods and Amazon.

Jana Thrift: This Saturday, Aug. 2, there’ll be a protest: Reject Billionaire Rule. Protesters will gather at noon outside of Whole Foods Market parking lot and surrounding areas while calling on Eugene and Springfield residents to participate in an indefinite boycott of Bezos-owned companies Whole Foods and Amazon.

We’re coming together to demonstrate the rejection of the rising ‘broligarchy’ of tech billionaires, who increasingly influence public policies, suppress labor rights, and consolidate economic and political control, and to oppose the broader system of billionaire rule and corporate ownership of our country.

We encourage these local alternatives to Whole Foods Market: The Kiva Grocery and Deli, Capella Market, Red Barn, Natural Grocery, Sundance Natural Foods, Saturday Market, New Frontier Market, King’s Asian Market, El Torito, Eugene Asian Market, Vishnu India Imports, El Rancho, Sunrise Asian Market, Growers Market Co-op, Market of Choice, and Winco, employee-owned Winco. Yes, again, Aug. 2, protest at noon at Whole Foods in Eugene: Reject billionaire rule.

Sam Broadway: This is KEPW-LP 97.3 FM, broadcasting locally here in Eugene, Oregon and simulcast online at KEPW.org. And now: the news.
