Comment by March 5 on Franklin Boulevard plan
1 min readfrom Better Eugene Springfield Transportation
A century ago, Franklin Boulevard was constructed as part of the Pacific Highway to carry motor vehicles up and down the west coast. Today, it is the “front porch” of the University of Oregon, where students, faculty, staff, and other members of the community live, learn, work, shop, and play.
BEST supports transforming Franklin into a complete street that is safe and practical for everyone, whether you drive, ride the bus, bike, roll, walk, or use a mobility assistive device. BEST expects that everyone will continue to have good access to businesses and other destinations along the corridor.
BEST looks forward to working with the City of Eugene and Lane Transit District as designs are refined.
Recently, over 160 community members attended the open house. Staff shared the refined preferred design, answered questions, and collected feedback. Now all open house materials are available online, with a new online mapping tool to provide location-specific feedback. Comment by Sunday, March 5.
