Winter Storm Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Thursday morning Dec. 22 through Friday morning Dec. 23.

Residents of the South Willamette Valley are encouraged to be aware of the possibility of ice accumulation.

Significant icing is possible, with ice accumulating to a total of one-tenth to one-half inch.

The weight of ice accumulating on tree limbs could lead to tree damage and power outages.

Travel could also be difficult, with hazardous conditions impacting the Thursday afternoon and Friday morning commutes.

The forecast for Thursday calls for snow from 4 p.m., changing to freezing rain from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., and then rain after 1 a.m. The overnight low temperature is predicated to be 30, with a 90% chance of precipitation.
