From Kalapuya lands in the Willamette watershed

‘Ride, Read & Rock the Block Party’ Aug. 4

LTD, the Eugene Public Library, and the Lane Community College Downtown Center have partnered to present the Ride, Read & Rock the Block Party.

The free family-friendly event will be held Friday, Aug. 4 from 4-8 p.m. at their shared public space at 10th Avenue and Olive Street in downtown Eugene.

The event will feature face painting, bus exploring, button making, book reading, kid-friendly crafts, live remote broadcast from 104.7 KDUK, and more.

Food and beverages from local food trucks will be available for purchase at the event.

“All ages are welcome at the free Ride, Read & Rock the Block Party,” said LTD Senior Marketing, Communications & Engagement Specialist Cammie Harris. “Families can ride LTD to downtown Eugene, read, create, and celebrate the Eugene Public Library, and rock out with LCC.”

The block party coincides with Lane Arts Council’s free First Friday ArtWalk event, 5:30-8 p.m. August ArtWalk attendees can catch a free wheelchair-accessible shuttle bus provided by LTD from the following locations:

  • Eugene Station
  • 5th Street Market Alley by the Gordon Hotel
  • 8th & Oak by the Lane County Courthouse
  • 11th & Pearl (formerly Firestone)

Block Party and ArtWalk attendees are encouraged to use public transit, walk, and bike to the event. LTD riders can download the Umo Mobility app, plan their trip and purchase bus fare in advance. Information about bike racks and parking in downtown Eugene is available at LaneArts.org.
