Join the Great Oregon ShakeOut 10-20 at 10:20
1 min readJoin members of your neighborhood’s disaster preparedness committee in the annual earthquake drill this Thursday, Oct. 20, at 10:20 a.m.
See the Great Oregon ShakeOut website to join people across Oregon practicing earthquake safety.
If Thursday morning isn’t convenient for you, register your ShakeOut drill for any day of the year at any time of your choice. You can also include people in multiple locations through video conferencing.
You can also join nearby neighbors at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 (before the Ducks 12:30 p.m. away game at Cal) in the second annual metro-wide preparedness drill. Nearby neighbors will participate in their own neighborhoods from about 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. to practice sending messages to the city’s Emergency Operations Center.
You can also join the Friendly Area Neighbors for an introduction to nearby neighbor “tabletop” exercises. These convene nearby neighbors to discuss how they can support one another in the event of an earthquake, wildfire, chemical spill, or dam breach (which is the topic Thursday Oct. 20 at the FAN general meeting). Attend and have your neighborhood recognize your participation in the local time bank.
Contact your neighborhood association or Andy Davis from the Eugene Springfield CERT program for more details.
