Shots fired at homeless in Glenwood

On March 23, at 1:03 a.m. Eugene Police officers were called to Moon Mountain Drive and Glenwood Boulevard regarding a dispute with shots fired.

When officers arrived, the suspect, Nicole Burke, 50, was detained after a dispute with people who were homeless in her neighborhood.

It was found that during the dispute, Burke fired a round from her handgun. Burke was also found to be intoxicated. The victim of the dispute is a male, age 36. Burke was charged with DUII, Unlawful Use Weapon, and Reckless Endangering.

Although housing status is not an identified category for statutory reporting of state and federal hate crimes, the Eugene Police Department tracks crimes motivated by perceived or actual housing status, economic status, and social status, among other conditions.
